The final Grand Slam of this year and the Team Dunlop wheelchair stars have done it again. It’s a singles title for Yui Kamiji of Japan and another Grand Slam doubles title for Aniek Van Koot of the Netherlands.

It is Kamiji’s 8th Grand Slam singles title and her 4th at Roland Garros. Kamiji powered to the French Open crown on Friday, defeating compatriot Momoko Ohtani 6-2, 6-1.  It was the first time in history that an all Japanese Grand Slam final had taken place. It was a sweet moment for Kamiji as she looked to avenge her loss in the final of the French Open in 2019.

However, it wasn’t to be for Kamiji in the final of the doubles. Along side partner and fellow Team Dunlop player, Jordanne Whiley the pair narrowly missed out to the title to another member of Team Dunlop, Aniek Van Koot.

Along with partner Diede De Groot, the Dutch pair took the title in a close fought match and gave Van Koot her 15th Grand Slam doubles title and her 18th overall. A quite remarkable achievement. It was an especially sweet result for Van Koot having had lost to Kamiji in the semi-finals of the singles.

It was another dominating performance by the Team Dunlop women at the French Open as they played part in yet another fantastic tournament for the sport.
